 A Park Created For Everyone to Use

There are many facilities in Showa Kinen Park making it accessible to everyone. Visitors holding a disability card may park their car and enter the park free of charge. There are 20 disabled parking places at the Tachikawa Gate, 6 at the Nishi Tachikawa Gate and 6 Sunagawa Gate.
Within the park there are 37 toilets for the disabled, all located near the main park facilities. There are also 23 locations with baby bed/changing facilities. There are also baby chairs in the Children's Forest. To the south side of 'Open Field', there is a fun play area which can be enjoyed by wheelchair users. In the cabin from which to watch wild birds, there are windows of varying heights so that both adults and children alike may enjoy themselves.
In the cooking and open-air stove section of the Outdoor Barbecue area, wheelchairs can be used.
The main paths around the Japanese Garden are easy to walk on, being made of paving mixed with earth, and they are accessible to wheelchairs and buggies. In addition there are signs everywhere which indicate where and which way to go.
In the herb garden, the beds are designed to be higher up so that people who cannot bend down may enjoy the plants and flowers. The plants and flowers are all labelled in Braille as well, so that the name of a particular plants are easily discernible. There are also pamphlets in Braille in the Flower Tree Garden Exhibition Center. At the Tachikawa Gate, the Nishi Tachikawa Gate and Sunagawa Gate there are buggies and wheelchairs as well. Everywhere you go you can enjoy the park.
