The
'Open Field' is located almost at the center of the park. It is wide
and spacious and has nearly the same dimensions as Hibiya Park. It is a place
which gives a sense of the utmost freedom, and is for all people who are searching
for relaxation. It is also a place for events such as outdoor concerts. As an
open space for recreation there is always something lively happening, and especially
as it is a very large open space, we must not forget that it can double up as
a place for evacuation in times of fire following an earthquake. |
| Open Field | |

This is the
largest open space within the Park. The turfed surface alone is double the size
of Tokyo Dome, 11 hectares in total. To make the best use of this vast area, various
types of events can be held. All year round a variety of programmes can be held
such as open air concerts, hot air ballooning test flights, firework displays,
ladies and family relay marathon events, 'frisbee' disc training. It is indeed a large open space, and can also act as a temporary evacuation area in times of earthquakes and resultant disasters. A deep well for water in emergencies is provided. |
| Dragonfly Marsh | |

In the Sports Area there are sporting activities such as a 'Disk Golf' Course (18 holes), where you compete by throwing a disc a number of times into a basket shaped hole; there is also 'Petanc' Court that originates from French Salor's game; and full scale courts for various other games which are more traditional and in which anyone can easily participate such as the English traditional game of 'Croquet', 'Lawn Bowling', and 'Horse-Shoe-Tossing' as well. These are healthy sporting activities which everyone can take part in, any time, anywhere, with their friends, to improve physical stamina. Have a thoroughly good time enjoying nature while working up a sweat. |
| Serpertine Area | |

To the west of 'Open Field' is Serpertine Area which is a total length of 700m. Serpertine Area flows leisurely along between the clumps of trees and the grassy banks. |
| Cherry Blossom Area | |
![]() |
There are
two Cherry Blossom Areas within the park; one is in the Flower Tree Garden and
the other is to the west of "Open Field". The latter is the clusters
of cherry trees and at its very best for the spring blossom viewing parties. 'The Evening Cherry Festival' is the biggest event in spring, and every year in the total darkness of natural surroundings, the prismatic illuminations, and the lights of sweetly remembered traditional lanterns shine on the pale pink of the cherry blossom petals. People can really feel the beauty and serenity of nature. |
